Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Well, it's Friday, and you know what that means. It's time for the picture of the week. This week it's of Lindsey, who came to us from Brunswick High School. Her session was awesome! Her outfits were colorful, her hair had a nice dark contrast, and I loved her funky eyeglasses! This photo was taken out in the field by the studio. I love the way the chair compliments her outfit and the brown weeds. Walter has such an eye for those details! Great job, Lindsey! Hope you love your photos as much as we do!

Have a great weekend, everyone! And if you're going out for Halloween tonight, be careful! Watch out for trick-or-treaters!

Picture of the Week

Here is my picture of the week! I love it! It is of Jenna Gonzalez. I loved this dress! It was polka dot and very retro. She has an awesome session, as you can see because it's online now. I loved the factory ones with the dress. This one and one where she is looking down walking are two of my favorites. I loved all her outfits and how she took her hair down part way through the session. It gave her a totally different look. Way to go, Jenna! Have a great weekend everyone!

Reason to Hire a Professional Photographer

I went to Niagara Falls earlier this week with my parents. We were met there by a couple they are friends with that live in Canada, Bernie and Myrna. My friend Becky and her mom Marilyn went, too. Becky and her mom were at the blackjack table while we went to the falls. We had our photo taken there, but I really wanted a photo of all seven of us together.

Once we all were together right before Bernie and Myrna left for home, we got together and pulled a stranger off the street to take a photo of all us of together. The beauty of digital photography is that you get to see the results instantly. He took the first photo with my camera and went to use a second one. I checked my camera and there was nothing there. He took the photo with the second camera and I handed him my camera and asked him to take another one. I figured he hadn't pushed the button hard enough. He took the photo again, and I gave him $5 as a tip, since the guy we happened to pick was the valet guy. I felt bad we had kept him there that long. As he disappeared, I checked my camera again and there was still no photo there! Bernie checked the second camera, and there was nothing on his, either!!!! I was not a happy camper!

Moral of the story: You get what you pay for! This was a moment I wanted to capture. We asked an amateur and we got ripped off! There are definitely times you should only trust a professional to capture the important times in life!

Picture of the Week

Well, it's Friday, and time for Picture of the Week. This week's choice is of Heather Sheppard from Keystone High School. Walter took her down to the laundromat for part of her session. She did a lot of cute poses down there, but this one of her in the dryer is priceless! It is too cute! Who would have thought?! Have a great weekend!

Walter's day in court!

About two weeks ago, we were photographing my family portrait. During the session a policeman drove thru the lot where we were parked and noticed that Walter's sticker was expired on his license plate. By the time we got back to the parking lot, the van was already hooked up to a tow truck and the policeman was writing a ticket. He said he ran the plate and it didn't match the van it was on.

We were very perplexed as to how Walter could have missed renewing his license plate sticker. You don't understand. I'm married to the original boyscout. I don't think he's ever had a overdue library book!

To make a very long story shorter, we found out that when we traded in our van, Walter paid to have the plates transferred. Apparently, the dealership skipped that part of the transaction, and never registered our vehicle. I also contacted the State Bureau of Motor Vehicles and found out that coincidentally they never mailed out a renewal notice this year for that sticker. Apparently it was a computer glitch!

Walter had to go to court today for having plates not registered to a vehicle. We had the state send us a letter stating that they never contacted us about the renewal and a letter from the dealership stating that they never registered our vehicle. We figured it couldn't hurt to take that evidence into court. After reading the letters, THE STATE DECIDED TO DROP ALL CHARGES! Walter didn't have to pay court fines or anything since everyone screwed up! YEAH! It's nice to know that sometimes the system can work in your favor!

Picture of the Week

Well, it's Friday, so I need to post my picture of the week. This week it's of Gary Edwards from Midview High School. I love the simplicity of the pose and all the color harmonies. Walter found the old chair at his dad's house, and it's so cool! The fall colors have been beautiful so far, and the weather has been cooperating! I can't wait until you see next week's picture of the week! Walter took it today, and if I could have had it ready, I would have used it! Stay tuned!
For those of you going to homecomings, have fun and be careful! Have a great weekend!

Guy Frenzy!

We have had a huge run on guy sessions lately! I think the senior guys in the area just decided that now would be a good time for senior portraits. Just about all the slideshows on the blog right now are guys. Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with that. I love those sessions. They were great. But for a while there we were photographing mostly girls. Yesterday all of our sessions were of guys. I have several session slideshows to post, and most of them are guys. See guys!? Getting your senior portraits taken is not as bad as you think! Check out the guys we've done recently. They had some awesome sessions! Don't wait. And have a great weekend!

Picture of the Week

OMG! I forgot to do the picture of the week yesterday! And I was three for three! Oh well. This week's picture of the week is of Madalyn McMinn, who came to us from Wellington High School. She went down the street with Walter to take some photos, and it looked like rain, so I ran them down some umbrellas. Good thing I did! It started raining just as I got to them! This photo was taken as Madalyn was walking back to the studio to change her outfit. It is soooo cute! Love it! Just like in my earlier post, when life gives you lemons.....

When life gives you lemons...

When Kyle did his session recently, it was raining hard that day. He brought his wakeboard for some photos. Walter had him change into his swimsuit, and outdoors they went! The first photo totally looks like it was taken by water, like at the beach, but it's really the road next to our studio! I love the shiny look of the street in the other wakeboard photo, too. The weather in the next few weeks will probably bring more rain, but it presents an opportunity to create some really unique stuff! If you've got a session coming up, pray for rain! You might get some cool stuff that no one else has! You'll see more samples of it coming to the website, so keep your looking for them!

New Banner!

Well, my other new banner went up yesterday. It is of Rachel Clark. She came to Rowe Photography from Elyria Catholic High School. I loved her lime green shoes! I always add a word to the banner that I think goes with the photo. The word I chose for this banner was "Fierce".
I think it is such a strong pose and she looks fierce! That word always reminds me of Christian Serriano, the last season winner from Project Runway!
Come visit my new banners in the window anytime!
